KEK Electricity Distribution and Supply Company (KEDS) Privatization Committee today held another, in a series of meetings – to receive and discuss a key deliverable from the Transaction Advisor, International Finance Corporation (IFC).

 

Minister of Economy and Finance, Ahmet Shala, opened the meeting and acknowledged the committee, donors, partners and friends of Kosovo who were present.

 

Minister for Energy and Mines, Justina Shiroka-Pula, then addressed the gathering – speaking on the importance of the regulatory framework and sector policies to investors, and to the people of Kosovo.

 

Under the direction of the committee chairman, Minister Shala, IFC then presented their findings on challenges and obstacles to the KEDS transaction – offering solutions and recommendations for addressing issues in order to move the transaction forward. Minister Shala then led a discussion of the findings with committee members, the transaction advisor, the project implementation unit, GoK consultants, and invited guests.

 

The committee agreed to address each of the issues individually and reconvene in the near-term to report on actions and conclusions taken to address challenges and move the transaction forward.

 

Minister Shala closed the meeting, thanking the Prime Minister, committee members and others for their time and commitment to the future of Kosovo.
